February has been a busy month at Indian Summer Leather Design. After Brian and I returned from our trip to Thailand we dove right into work. Every two years I have to go through a jury process in order to be accepted into the Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver.
I worked hard on my jury pieces that would showcase the craftsmanship, quality and creativity of my work. In addition to displaying my work, I had to also provide an artist statement, a work process description, as well as a portfolio of my work. Only hand-crafted products of high quality are admitted to be sold in the Granville Island Market as well as most of the other shows that I attend.
After a few nerve-wrecking days of not knowing whether we got accepted, or not, we found out that YES, we got in!
This year marks my 25th consecutive year for being in the Granville Island Market. I started my business in 1995 and got accepted into the Market with my first 4 designs that I finished in time for the jury. That was the beginning of my successful bag making business "Indian Summer Leather Design”.
We are excited about being part of the Granville Island community of artists once again, and to bring my designer leather bags to Granville Island Market visitors from all over the world!
